loss of afinity for final 3 star settlement missions

Post by Drew458 » Wed Mar 06, 2019 12:03 am

Am I the only one who thinks this is kind of a raw deal?

You work your way through a faction's governor missions, finally getting to their 3 star settlement, doing the first several missions there, and they love you totally. Your affinity with this faction is tops. Then you do the final missions for them, which are the hardest ones in the game, and when you win you find your affinity has dropped to Neutral or less, and they won't pay the reward. WHAT???? Oh sure, I just fought my way through 36 ships playing the extended Defend the Fortress mission, or survived wave after wave of enemies escorting your ship from here to there, and now I'm some kind of pariah? Thanks for nothing, amigo.

Yes, you can put that completed mission on hold, and go and do a giant bunch of delivery missions, though only 3 at a time, and build affinity back up with that faction. Then you can get their reward. And they're so grateful!! This can take quite some time. But it's still a major dis, and it's been this way since 2.5.0. Feedback about it to Artik has gone unanswered, so I guess that's the way they want it. Makes it more infuriating, um, I mean challenging, I guess.

What's your opinion?

I will check this out. I guess the ships in that battle are accidently the from the faction your helping. I'll have to check that out, as its an old bug then.

Is this for every faction? Or just some of them?
Don't judge me! I am trying my best.

I think I found the problem. Quests might use the default affinity (neutral) and add the reward affinity to it. instead of using the existing state.
I changed it and I hope that will fix the problem.

thanks!! Yes, it was at all the factions. Sometimes it was just the last mission at the 3 star settlement, sometimes (Tobago) it was the last 3 missions. I think you're right about the ships belonging to the sponsoring faction; the first time I noticed this I saw that the wrong flag was on the quest in the quest list. My guess is that the faction and their enemy were reversed. When the next build comes out, I'll try it again to see.

UPDATE, MORE THAN FIVE MONTHS LATER ...

Actually, "Aeregon" only fixed some of them. I had to go back and hound him to fix San Juan. And to this day, the middle of August 2019, the issue still exists at Tobago.

It was an old issue when I posted about it here. The only way I was ever able to even find the problem was because the Defend the Fortress missions were made so much easier. Before that, playing on a basic smartphone, I was never able to win one of them ever.

Nobody pays the slightest attention to this forum other than me. I do not work for Artik software. I'm just a volunteer tester. And I'm pretty sure I'm the only tester they have left. Their Facebook page is barely touched. The game's description page at Google Play is ancient and inaccurate.

"Aeregon" is long since gone. So are "Meg" and "Ann". Whatever developers are left have spent months trying to improve things on the backend of the game; newer packages and coding tools, simplifying old complex code, and so forth. It is only in the past week that any bugs have been even partially fixed at all.

So yeah, it bugs me that things at Artik seem to have shifted into "we don't care" or "we can't do it" mode, or has been downsized so much that they simply can't manage to manage the game any more. That's very sad; I've stuck with this game since version 1.8 I think. 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 10 point releases for 2.5, 23 point releases for 2.6 so far.

The latest alpha point release is a damn mess. The ships don't even have sails on them. You can't customize them. Cargo transfers are messed up. It crashes a lot. This is what 3-4 months of improvement brings? I am a sad tester tonight.
